what a agnifyg gss is, you surely know — such a round sort of spectacle-gss that akes everythg full a huis rger than it really is.
when one holds it before the eye, and looks at a drop of water out of the pond, then one sees above a thoand strange creatures.
It looks alost like a whole pteful of shrips sprgg about aong each other, and they are so raveno, they tear one another’s ars and legs, tails and sides, ahey are gd and pleasedtheir > 从前有个老头儿,大家都叫他 “爬来爬去”,因为那就是他的名字。
Now, there was on old an, who was called by every body creep-and-crawl; for that was his na.
he would always ake the best out of everythg, and when he uld not ake anythg out of it he resorted to witchcraft.
Now, one day he sat and held his agnifyg gss before his eye, and looked at a drop of water that was taken out of a little pool ich.
what a creepg and crawlg was there! all the thoands of sall creatures hopped and juped about, pulled one another, and pecked one another.
“but this is aboable!” said creep-and-crawl, “ o get the to livepead quiet, and each d his own bess?”
Ahought and thought, but he uld e to no , and so he was obliged to jure.
“I t give the a lor, that they ay be ore disible!” said he; and so he poured sothg like a little drop of red wio the drop of water, but it was bewitched blood fro the lobe of the ear — the very fi sort for a penny; and then all the strange creatures beca rose-lored over the whole body.
